Sustainable development - the key to
survival
We have drawn
on the planet's capital reserves to achieve much of our current economic
development and growing evidence suggests that climate change is one cost of
this behaviour. Dealing with resource depletion and toxicity within the
biosphere could prove to be critical for human survival. Compost making (the
picture below comes from Staffordshire
Moorlands District Council's collection) is one well-known way of putting
our waste back into the wider natural system and using renewable energy (the
picture, left, shows two methods planned to be used in Staffordshire), rather
than fossil fuels, will help to prevent the problem getting worse. The picture
links, papers and presentations in this section are offered to help people
create their own solutions.
